A brilliant feel-good summer song
Pre-release review: Nothing Too Serious - Grace Calver
Imagine Grace Calver releasing a song that is not about her love life! Only joking. It is about her love life, but this time it’s about the phase after a break up, spending time with her friends and thinking about... well, her love life.

If you just focus on the music and tempo, without paying attention to the lyrics, you can already imagine playing that song in the car while driving slowly near a beach. And then the lyrics are a perfect match to that, making it a brilliant feel-good summer song.
Her friend Evie gets a mention, as she seems to be a big part of this process of reflecting on those love life adventures.
The song starts from setting the scene, building up to the chorus, in which Grace is motivating herself. Then it goes into the next phase as she’s now moving on. By the time we get to the 3rd chorus, she has already motivated herself and now she’s trying to motivate others who may have had similar experiences.
Grace Calver playing Nothing Too Serious live for the first time, in London last month.
Grace probably hasn’t planned it this way, but if you take Social Media Generation, then So Last Season and then Nothing Too Serious, they could be 3 chapters of the same story. But the most important common element between those songs, is that all 3 of them will make you smile and enjoy the way Grace takes her adventures and gives them such a spin, that make them entertaining stories and sources of positive energy.
And although a lot of people might relate to those stories in her songs, she has such a way of making them sound original and entertaining. The new cool lyric for this summer is “You completed it mate”.
