Pre-release review: Dollface - Emergency Break
A dramatic story, narrated in an intense, sharp and punchy arrangement with a sudden climax.
Dollface tells the story of a fictional character, a girl called Jane, who finds temporary fame online and struggles to cope and control herself. Too quick, too sudden, too hard to handle at such a young age, resulting in tragedy.
The intro and the first verse, lay the foundations of what is about to have a very quick serious escalation. The punchy, sharp and intense vocals and distorted guitar sounds, support the sudden climax, painting the picture of the young girl’s adventure.
It’s a song that addresses the brutal world that teenagers are getting thrown into with social media and other channels, showing the possible effects of that exposure.
Here's a snippet of the track, which had an early play on ArtsyMix Radio on Monday 21/4.
The quality of the track is further evidence that Emergency Break are determined to keep making big steps forward, as they gain more experience in the studio, as well as on stage. They keep getting better and better with their productions. Leo’s vocals sound more mature than ever. The confidence is growing stronger. About a year ago, they had played very few gigs and they only had one released track. The progress they have made since then, is truly remarkable. Now, they’re looking forward to an EP, a few festivals including their own, as well as another headline show in September.
Dollface is out on Friday 25/4/2025.
