Wicked Game (cover) - DisOrient

It’s a wicked game that just turned even more wicked. DisOrient have put their own twist on an 80’s classic by Chris Isaak, making it match their goth style.

Wicked Game is a sad song that is essentially based on heartbreak, which it then associates with the negative view of the world. But then, the light acoustic guitar sound, combined with Chris Isaak’s tone, seemed to balance it out.

DisOrient have made the song sound a lot darker, to match their goth style, as well as Rhiley's voice. Slower tempo, lower / deeper voice tone, darker electric guitar sounds. In the original song, the first part (first verse and chorus) were repeated as a 3rd part. DisOrient have skipped that repetition, making the song shorter, while slowing it down.
The doubled up haunting vocals in selected parts of the song, draw more attention to specific parts of the lyrics, make them sound more dramatic, giving more emphasis to their meaning. That includes the last line of the song, leaving you with the lasting memory that nobody loves no one.

The Wicked Game cover is being released by DisOrient on 22 June 2024. Click here to pre-save it.
