Almost two years since the release of “Evergreen” and about 8 months since their latest single “London”, Two Of The Same are back with a new single, called Occupation. It’s not just another step in their journey. It’s a release that effectively re-defines their musical identity.

Over the last 2 years, with approximately one release every 8 months, they had been experimenting, trying to find their musical identity. This song is their 4th single and it represents their change in direction, as they seem to have finally found their sound.

Their previous releases are more consistent with some of their influences including Wolf Alice and Nieve Ella. In Occupation, there is a clear shift towards more upbeat rock influences like Wunderhorse and The Pretty Reckless.

At the beginning of the song, you can sense the build up to a high tempo rock song. I’m not sure if they deliberately take influence from the 80’s and 90’s, but in the intro, I can hear a mixture of vibes from pop and rock songs of those periods. Then it quickly evolves into more modern alternative rock, combined with pop and electronic. As for the lyrics, well it’s about being obsessed with a person, getting impatient and not holding back. No need for too much analysis on that.

In terms of the production, they have made a significant step forward with this track. The song is upbeat, catchy and perfect for live performances. It’s easy to imagine their fans jumping and singing along in live shows, especially with the clever elements in the arrangement that trigger waves of excitement.

From the element of anticipation and build up at the beginning, to the uplifting upbeat rock vibes, with the addition of the excitement elements in the chorus, a song with excellent mixing with electric guitars combined with synth, while the vocals are spot on. Occupation is your new feel-good song which has everything it takes to become a live show favourite.

Occupation is out on Friday 21st March 2025.
