The Light - Oli Barton

Out on Friday 12 April 2024. Click here to pre-save.

Oli Barton is back with a new single, about 2 months after the release of It’s Over Now. In his new song, the singer/songwriter from South London, addresses online dating and casual fun and he's really not holding back. Things people say to over-sell themselves, the anticipation, the sad realizations afterwards, leading to a promise to self. Does it sound familiar? It's a naughty spicy pop song, with a generous dose of sarcasm, a lively tempo and a pleasing mixture of synth and guitars.

The track was produced by Alex Quinn (The Royston Club) and mixed by Tom Longworth (Red Rum Club).

Although The Light is still unreleased, Oli had been playing the song in live shows for a while. It sounded a bit more rock in the live shows, with the sounds of electric guitars standing out, while in the recording it’s a lot more electronic, with distinctive synth tones taking over.

Oli recently posted a video of himself in a recording studio, playing an organ with reverse-colour keys, which made it look like a barbeque. Especially with those legs too. Now we know what he was cooking. It’s ready, it's hot, well done and tasty. And quite spicy as well.

Update Wednesday 10 April: We can now give you a preview of the recording...
