The Ariston set the tone for a rock night

The Ariston were tasked with warming up the crowd ahead of a rock show by the M60, and they didn’t mess about. Their set of 7 rock songs, was ideal to set the tone. These guys are not known for doing slow songs.

It was a much needed gig for the 4-piece rock band, as they hadn’t played too many shows in recent months, following their 2 headline shows towards the end of 2023. It was also good preparation, ahead of a semi-final.

They started with one of the most recognizable songs, Simona. Then, they addressed the issues with alcohol abuse, in the song Blackout.

They continued with another 2 of their most popular songs, Semantics and Festival, before highlighting the consequences of drug use in I Hate It When You’re High.

Yellow Lines

Yellow Lines is a song that really deserves to be discovered by more people. Starting from sadness which escalates into emotional explosion, backed by satisfying ear-filling guitar solos, combined with Luca’s distinctive tone. The lyrics are clever and rather artistic, with the phrase “it’s 4am and you decline my call” showing a combination of sarcasm and unapologetic backing of someone’s reasoning in a certain emotional state. Going from “sat on a curb” to mentioning the yellow lines, paints the picture of the scene and the thought process in that situation. It’s a powerful song which combines the lyrical elements of a ballad and the rock rhythm, riffs and solos. It's an absolute banger.

The song Amber concluded a rather short but satisfying set, which definitely succeeded in warming up the crowd.

The Ariston are now preparing for a semi-final. On Saturday 20/4 they’re performing in the semi-final of the Isle of Wight Newblood competition, for the chance to play at the Isle Of Wight 2024.
